War Child
In 1999 , two young doctors – Samantha Nutt and Eric Hoskins created an organization called “War Child” . Samantha and Eric both worked in some of the world’s toughest war zones and they were committed to creating an organization that would help war-affected areas rebuild their country . War child’s main mission is to help with children that live in war-affected communities and help their childhood have an education and access to opportunities and justice . War child was formed to help war-affected areas rebuild their country and support the children to live a happy and educated life . Canada takes on a big role in the War Child organization . When war affects a community , employment lacks , schools are tore down , houses are destroyed , and this leads to many unemployed adults , uneducated children , and homeless families . Since there are not any wars in Canada , we come up with donations to help war-affected areas to rebuild their country . In 2000 , the Canadian music industry supported War Child by hosting a benefit concert in Winnipeg, Manitoba . The benefit concert got 80,000 people to attend and raised over $500,000 . Since this benefit concert was so successful , they decided to host two more concerts to raise more money for War Child . War Child was brought to the Canadian minds . War Child has many recent projects they’ve done . Most of these projects have taken place in Afghanistan , Burundi , Chechnya , Colombia , D.R Congo , Ethiopia , Iraq , Israel , Kosovo , Lebanon , Liberia , Sierra Leone , Sri Lanka , Sudan , Uganda , and Gaza . One of the projects War Child has done is called “child protection” , the main theme of this project is to protect children and young people against the consequences of armed conflict . Another recent project is called “education” , the main theme of this project is to help children and young children access to a great education . Another project is called “justice” , the main theme of this project is to help children access justice . Finally , another recent project war child has done is called “livelihoods” the main theme of this project is to build sustainable livelihoods that help children and young people’s fundamental needs . The War Child organization has many projects that have
Discussion Board 6 Out of all the War and Peace essays the one that I felt presented the best argument was "A Few Good Kids?" on page 630. This essay presented the issue of military recruiting. For many military recruiter research had to be done before even talking to a prospects. After the 2002 and the No Child Left Behind act this became a different story. A persons information was shared with the recruiters once they become a junior. There is an opportunity for a student to opt-out of this but…

Mitchell Hitchcock EN-110 8:00 am Mr Denio Inherent Compassion In the essay “On Compassion” Barbara Lazear Ascher states that “We are not born compassionate. It has to be learned through one's own adversity and suffering.” I do not agree with this statement at all. She tells the story of a mother pushing her child in a stroller who gives a homeless man money. She questions why the woman would do that, weather it is fear or compassion. She goes on to how New York City looks today with the well…

this and is currently using this as a form of interrogation of high valued targets in the Al Qaeda regime and other terrorist organizations. Since the beginning of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, this technique has been under scrutiny on whether it is ethical or moral to “torture” people. Christopher Hitchens wrote a short essay called Believe Me Its Torture. In the story he relates to the special forces community and their response to the accusations of whether or not water boarding is considered…
too complicated to be dealt with in a short essay--topics such as capital punishment, for instance, or the war in Iraq. Of course, this doesn't mean that you have to restrict yourself to trivial issues or to ones that you care nothing about. Rather, it means that you should consider topics you know something about and are prepared to deal with thoughtfully in a short essay of 500 or 600 words. A well-supported argument on the need for a campus child-care center, for instance, would probably be…
