An Imperative Read There are many books that have theories on why and who killed the 35th president of the United States, John F. Kennedy. The text, The Kennedy Detail, which is written on the accounts of the Secret Service Agents that were assigned to him and his family, show a heartfelt, private, and more credible account of before, during, and after the tragic day in Dallas. With this book you get a different point of view that shows raw emotion, the kind of emotion that makes this text pop out. In this work there are countless places where you get to see the emotions of the Kennedys making significant connections with the readers. For instance when Mrs. Kennedy had lost her son Patrick Bouvier Kennedy, “When the news came that Patrick had died, the anguish flowed from the president and Mrs. Kennedy down to each and every agent, all of whom felt as if they too had lost a child.”(128). This is real, not a story that someone made up but a true account that people can connect to. The loss of a child that Mrs. Kennedy was facing at the time are what mothers, fathers, and other families around the world have and are still dealing with but the only difference was that her life was always on display. There are also private moments in this text that give the Kennedys a more down to earth feel for the average middle class person. The Kennedys were ordinary people with a big role in government but the agents make the reader see the more normal/private side and this can be seen when, “The days at the Kennedy compound were filled with touch football games with cousins, aunts, and uncles; building sand castles on the beach; and always, always there was sailing.”(122).
