As I write this introduction, I am like millions of others watching the tragedy in Louisiana and Alabama caused by hurricane Katrina. A small but important part of the devastation and the challenge is the existence of individuals and groups of citizens from the area mostly impacted by the storm who used guns against their neighbours and those attempting to assist them. In any other industrialised nation, this will never happen because it will eventually cause the level of socialisation to decline due to the issue pertaining citizens getting the ready access towards guns. Most likely, gun violence is categorised as the most highly anticipated violence around the world because it is growing rapidly and causes I strongly believe that what causes gun violence is the result of the constitution that grants an individual the right to bear firearms fro protection, if not it will be against the law for any body to get hold of a small weapon for protection in the case where by it only promotes danger and possible criminal activities. Why do people need guns for protection? Isn’t there any proper way to protect oneself without using firearms? Why the violence too? These are all possible questions that people should consider and realise before buying these weapons. Actually if the number of people with handguns should be reduced and also the complexity with illegal gun trafficking will be reduced too, the rate of gun violence will be extremely “The high rate of gun ownership probably explains why the high rate of gun violence is occurring” (Michael Moore). In his documentary for columbine, he affirms that the more people buy guns for protection, the more the violence will rise because there will be a lot of mis confrontations and fighting. In conclusion the rate of homicide and murder is growing substantially, discrimination and segregation contributes to the high rate of gun violence in enormous
have come to seen an increase in school violence. For example,Newton Connecticut,Chardon High School, and Texas University,to name a few. Many have come to the conclusion that the reason this is happening, is because of Movies,Games, and even the easy accessibility to weapons. A popular director,Quinton Tarantino, is known for his gory, heavily violent, films. He was recently accused of being one of the main reasons why we have seen an increase in school violence. Many people believe that because we have…

Civilizations II Professor Blang October 27th, 2014 Bang! Gun Laws Blown out of Proportion Tuesday, 7: 26 P.M. A dusky, unforgiving sky approaches as sunlight yellow-tape reading “CAUTION” is extended across the unchanged, backbiting pavement that has somehow converted into a deathbed for countless inner-city youth in Chicago. Gun violence is a major problem in our American culture that must be addressed. It affects every American and how we choose to live our daily lives. With the amount of appalling mass shootings that occur frequently in the United States, the federal government has an obligation to its citizens to help prevent these reoccurring tragedies. This obligation from the government should come in the form of universal background checks, restrictions on specific guns, and mental health tests. For the purpose…

A few weeks ago, every single day throughout the week innocent victims lost their lives due to gun violence in Cleveland. Many people are being injured and killed due to gun violence, and the Ohio Congress needs to make stricter laws to regulate all the firearms in our city. When looking to the social-economical factors that play a role in the rampant gun violence in the city of Cleveland, some…

Gun Violence: Should We or Shouldn’t We? The issue of gun control has been a very important topic following the Sandy Hook Elementary School and Aurora, Colorado movie theater shootings just last year. We all feel compassionate for the families of these Americans whose lives were taken in the most horrifying way. We are all too familiar with the saying “guns don’t kill people, people kill people,” my goal is to find some validity to this statement. The most prevalent question is whether the problem…
Violent? The essay that I have written is on the movie “Bowling for Columbine” it is also on the question that seemed to be asked many times during this movie and that is, why are we as Americans so violent? Throughout this essay I will discuss how we as a nation are different with violence compared to other countries. Along with that, I will also talk about the factors that come to play when violence erupts, along with the role of guns, the media’s play of the violence, and the role of corporations…
