According to department of statistics, Malaysia (DOSM), during 2017, the estimation of Malaysia’s population was 32.0 million people with an increase of 1.3%. However, the climate of Peninsular Malaysia (PM) is different that of Eastern Malaysia, as the climate of PM is directly affected by winds from mainland, as it is opposite to the more maritime weather of the East. This climate difference is likely to have a significant effect on the country; such effects include increase in sea level, rainfall, flooding risks and lastly leading to large droughts. Local climates are naturally affected by the existence of mountain ranges throughout the country, and anyway the climate of Malaysia can be divided into that of lowlands, highlands and coastal regions.
