The item I have chosen to write about is a lacrosse stick. It is a piece of sports equipment that is made up of a shaft, head, and mesh. When I first look at it I see a metal shaft that looks like it weighs a lot, but when I pick it up it barely weighs 9 ounces. Its hexagonal shape indicates that it’s meant to be held by hand, which is better than a full circular shaft, which is harder to grip. It also has a patented sand blasted friction finish, which would help the user hold onto the stick easier. The shaft is hollow on the inside so that the user does not have to run with all the extra weight inside. The shaft has many scrapes and scratches from contact with other shafts. The number of scratches and scrapes around the shaft indicate that it has been used a lot. The shaft has one large dent at the bottom of it, which could not have been made from simply dropping the shaft since its located on its side, but from the direct contact of another shaft. The logo on the shaft is from Easton, which is an international sports manufacturing company. This company only makes shafts for elite players which means the player that bought it, paid heavily for it. The head, which is attached to the shaft, is what propels the ball. It has two engraved markings on the bottom right corner, which indicate it is NCAA and NFHS legal. These organizations come up with the specs and measurements of the head so it can be used at different levels. This marking indicates that the player who owns this head either plays in the NCAA or the NFHS. This gives an idea of how old the user may be, which may be between 15 and 21 years of age. The head has many different color scuff marks all over it from all the contact it has made with other heads and the floor. The head also indicates that the player mostly plays on a turf surface, because there are no green/grass related scuff marks. The head is white, which allows the player to see all these marks. The head is designed with over 18 stringing holes along both sides of it, which allow the user to have many stringing options. The top of the head has 6 holes to make sure that the mesh forms in the way the player likes it. Its C-Channel technology provides extra strength for checking and ground balls. This indicates that the player can abuse his head more than usual and allows the player to play harder and more aggressive. Its new design is 5% lighter than most NFHS models. This allows the player to shoot faster with the lighter head. The mesh can be any color but this stick has white mesh. White mesh is better to see the ball. There are over 20 types of mesh out there that fit any player’s personal needs. The mesh has one nylon string about two inches below the scoop. It also has one maroon shooting string across the top, which is directly below the nylon. These strings indicate that the person who strung it up is an offensive player. The lacrosse ball must be able to sit in the mesh with the top of the ball even with the bottom of the plastic of the head. This indicates that the player has a legal mesh pocket, and that
