Religious Imagery
Throughout a different history, horses and pied beauty several striking religious images are presented to the reader. These range between from a battle between atheism and religion in A different history, how everything diverse is connected by god in pied beauty and the contrast between heaven and hell in horses. A different history expresses the contrast between Indian and European religious views. The Indians believe that nature is directly linked to their deities and so sacred that “it is a sin to slam books down hard on a table, it is a sin to shove a book aside with your foot.” these are both examples and superlatives of the Indians respectful attitude towards nature to the extent that it is so morally wrong to the Indians to mistreat a book that it is a sin in their religion. The first words in the poem are that “Pan” has “emigrated to India” this can be interpreted that Christianity, the main religion in European Countries, has driven out Pan, that it has driven out nature itself due its outlook on nature. However this can also be interpreted that Pan has moved due to the holiness of nature in India, that it is much more preferable for the nature go do be in India. The poem is written in free verse which is symbolic of the freedom of nature in India which one of the core beliefs in Hinduism and Buddhism, the main religions in India.
Contrasting this, Pied beauty does not represent two sides fighting, it represents how the wide range of wildlife is all connected by god. Alliteration has a heavy influence on this by representing links between words such as “swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim.” Alliteration connects these words even though they are polar opposites of each other, representing god and how he created everything. This device changes every animal into a symbol. The poem starts and ends with references to god creating a feeling that god surrounds everything and he is universal. The structure of the poem is also important as it seems irregular however it is a repeating pattern, representing how god is a part of everything providing a type of order.
Horses is a poem that, opposite to the other two poems, uses nature to represent other matters. The horses’ description is ambiguous and oxymoronic. The “majestic” and “bossy
“work”) in English. “Inglés es solo para la escuela”, my father would remind me. His concern with speaking English at home and at school was that would I forget my roots. HE would criticize the Hispanics with “faces that were indigenous, but languages that weren’t.” These Hispanics were an example of what my father didn’t want me to become. Don’t get me wrong my family is very open minded with merging with American culture, but the reason they reminded me that Spanish was for at home, and English was for…
positive attitude towards life and all living things. I have also been successful in sports and singing. I sang and performed in middle school and garnered a speaking part in the musical and carried this on in high school. I love to sing, not only solo, but with the choir as well. At the end of my sophomore year, I sang an entire solo song in French, which was impressive since I did not know any French at all at that time. I am now taking French and am enjoying it even more than I thought I…

should be practicing English. I think mixing groups is a good way to draw students out of their comfort zones and help them to practice and communicate with someone they may usually not have confidence to speak too or someone they don’t know very well so when they use their language in real life situations such as abroad they will be more confident speaking to strangers or people with a different personality to them. There is many different ways to set up a classroom for Oral English. I find for whole…
dancing and acting. As this was a club for younger students it was often very amateur, but this is where I discovered my passion for acting and performing. Through this experience the main benefit was confidence while on stage, learning things such as speaking at the correct pitch and pace. Which I believe to be one of my stronger points in my acting…
and Prince (“World”) (Gresko). Benjamin was known to skate board, wear floral shirts, and ride BMX bikes, while Patton had a 3.68 GPA, had grown up primarily in the country of Savannah, Georgia, and had a weird obsession with the music of experimental/alternative English singer/songwriter Kate Bush (“Articles”). Both were distinct individuals who shared an interest of creating hiphop melodies and rap lyrics that expressed their oddball experience in a systematic ghetto like East Point that consists of “pimps”…
