“Webster’s Dictionary 1828:
Truth

Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be. The truth of history constitutes its whole value. We rely on the truth of the scriptural prophecies.
My mouth shall speak truth. Prov.8.
Sanctify them through thy truth; thy word is truth. John. 17.

Webster’s Dictionary 1913:
Truth

The quality or being true; as; Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been; shall be.

Miriam-Webster’s Dictionary 2013:
Truth

Sincerity in action, character, and utterance.”

Over the past two centuries, you can see that any mention or use of the Bible has been taken out. You can also see that any ‘quotes’ from other literature have also been taken out. The reasoning may be that as a language, English has developed so much, and is now old enough to not need any quotes; also, to fit into the ‘state vs. church’ argument and not get sued, they would have taken out anything that may mention anything from the Bible that is not pertinent to the entry word.

Also, words are added to the dictionary every year, and many of those are what we call ‘slang words’ or ‘lazy words’. For example, the word ‘Funner’ was recently added to the dictionary, but was not recognized as a word until then. Why? Because it actually isn’t proper English, and you would have gotten marks taken off you paper if you used such a word.
