~ Role of epidemiology the role of epidemiology is the study about health including life expectancy, mortality rate, infant mortality rate and morbidity rate. It is also the use of health care service such as hospital admissions and Medicare claims > this study is known as epidemiology and it provides the information on the distribution of disease, illness and injury.
~ Measures of epidemiology
Mortality rate > this is knows as the death rate and measure the number of death from a specific reason during a period of time.
Infant mortality rate > Measure the yearly number of deaths of children under 1 year of age per 1000 live births. – death rate
Morbidity rate > this rate informs us about the level of diseases in specific populations.
What can epidemiology tell us?
- Epidemiology has many purposes, such as:
> monitoring the major causes of sickness and death to find any developing issues and differences between groups
> noticing the use of health care services and facilities
> determining importance areas for the allocations of government funding
> assessing the effectiveness of any prevention and treatment programs.
