Shakespeare's Life William Shakespeare was arguably the most famous writer of the English language, he is known for his plays and his sonnets. Although most of his life is unknown due to lack of evidence. In the middle of the sixteenth century Shakespeare's father John Shakespeare moved to a town called Stratford. Shakespeare's father was a successful landowner, moneylender, and a glove maker. In 1557 John Shakespeare married Mary Arden. In 1557 John Shakespeare became a member of the Stratford council and started his illustrious political career. Town records indicate that William Shakespeare was John and Mary's third child. William's birth is unregistered but they believe he was born on April 23rd, 1564 they say that because he died on April 23rd at 52. They don't know much about William's childhood but they do believe that he attended his local grammar school at the age six or 7. Later on in William's life he did not attend at University, University's was known for the wealthy. In 1582 William Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, she was 26 years old when she married William. Their first daughter was named Susana Shakespeare. Then in 1585 Anne gave birth to a set twins Hamnet and Judith Shakespeare. Hamnet died at 11 years old. At that time Shakespeare was being a successful playwright. In 1590 Shakespeare wrote Henry VI pt 1 which is considered to be his first play.
