In terms of overall reliability, the author of the research provided us mainly with non-bias point of views and claims which are supported through creditable data and examples, such as when the author is explaining the FDI, it provided the “Foreign direct investment and jobs in 2007” for reader to have reference. Furthermore, UNESCO and IIEP are well-known and reputable organisations, which may give reader confident on the reliability of the research.
Moreover, argument of the passage is balanced and tends to be objective. For instance, in the first paragraph, it stated” This paper argues that higher education in the context of globalization has become a market-determined process”. The use of tone and language are neutral, and did not involve any personal judgement. This shows that the passage is generally objective.
The currency of the research is generally acceptable albeit one of the redefining of the tertiary education is from 1998. Yet, the definition of it is usually being constant. Even with the definition in 1998, it would not seriously affect the research. Also, in the references, the data collected by the author was mainly around 2005 to 2008,
