The Power of Emotion

Happiness is the emotion most attempt to reach but fail. It is the great feeling felt within that brings great satisfaction. The film Pursuit of Happyness is based on a true story that happens to rub off some good lessons/ morals about this happiness. In the film, a man (Chris Gardner) and his son (Christopher) learn to overcome poverty, debt, so they can reach goals. It also shows the love a man has for his son and how much parents are willing to give up to make their kids have a better life. It rises questions like how strong does a person have to be to not let anything bring them down, even after being involved in the most difficult and negative situations. This film shows how much an emption can change lives. Showing the love parents have for their children, or how much happiness means to many. The film rubs off many great messages that can be used in everyday life, and how strong minded one could be to strive and reach the impossible. The three points involve, what gives humans the power to strive for better levels of life? How strong can the mind be to ignore all the negativity, and obstacles that come with reaching success? Lastly how much are parents willing to give for their children to give them everything.

Happiness is defined as being satisfied or feeling pleasure. But how is happiness obtained? How could one ever reach happiness? Like Chris stated, “maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue and maybe we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have it” Here in America, americasn are always hearing about the American dream. About being how great this country is supposed to be, and how happy one can get from coming here. “The American dream is an idea which suggest that all people can succed through hard work, and that all people have the potential to live happy, successful lives.” From the article “What is the American Dream?” being in the state of happiness usually involves reaching ones goals and dreams. But what is it that gives that drive to do so? “Happiness depends upon ourselves” as said by Aristotle. How could it be reached? For some it might be winning a lump sum of money, being famous, or having a big house. In reality money cannot buy happiness. For most being happy means living a great life, spending time with family, planning for a great future or just plain being with the ones you love. The idea of feeling happy, going against the odds and succeeding is what fuels the idea of reaching this goal.

In the film Pursuit of Happyness Chris Gardner strives to reach his goal of being a stockbroker hoping to reach happiness. His vision came one day after asking a random guy, “what do you do and how do you do it?”- Pursuit of Happyness After living with debt, his wife leaving and being evicted from his home he strived to find a better life for him and his son, Christopher. The thing about happiness is that one cannot ever really be completely satisfied. “Man falls from the pursuit of the ideal of plan living and high thinking the moment he wants to multiply his daily wants. Man’s happiness really lies in his contentment”- Mahatma Gandhi. Mankind decides their own destiny, and happiness.

Sure all dreams and goals can be accomplished, but is that enough? One always wants more than what they have, always striving for more. Once goal is reached another one is out put in its plac. Being happy is a great feeling to achive, that satisfaction from reaching something at one point through impossible. One can win a million dollars, but would they be satisfied with or would they want to reach a billion? There is always that urge to get more and more, no matter how much is accomplished. Once someone experiences happiness, once the drive to get that feeling is always there. Reaching happiness isn’t an easy road to pass at times. Warning1 the road to happiness may contain copious amounts of negativity. Everyone always has that one person or one thing that tries
