The Emancipation Proclamation and the Brown vs. Board of Education case leads us to the society we have today because it helped the overall equality of African Americans in the U.S.A. The story Emancipation from Lincoln: A Photobiography takes you back a few hundred years to learn about The Emancipation Proclamation and how it ended slavery. The story Brown vs. Board of Education is a great example because this story is all about equality for African Americans in all schools.
In the story Emancipation from Lincoln: A Photobiography, Lincoln explains why he had some regrets about going through with the proclamation. He was nervous about the northern states, which were on the border of the north and south, going to the south and fight against the north with their men. The civil war had started and he was still debating with himself and the cabinet. The cabinet did not think that it was a good idea. They warned him that the country wasn’t ready to accept the emancipation. That wasn’t the case for all of the cabinet though. Most of them nodded in agreement of his decision. He then sent out the emancipation and ended slavery, for the most part. The story Brown vs. Board of Education, takes you back to when the schools were segregated and were not treated the same at all. The story explains how in most southern states the education level was not the same between African Americans and Caucasians.
