What were the major developments in the evolution of mass media during the 20th century?
Over the course of the past 20 years there has been a significant increase in mass media. Currently in our everyday lives we are exposed to media in various forms many of which I’m sure we don’t realize whether it be in taxi cabs or on the sides of buses, it has also become more easier to come across ranging for our constant access to 24-hour news, or even reality shows based on pretty much anything. My favorite part of media is product placement, we see things in music videos and movies that are purposely placed there to grab our attention and promote their product Media is literally everywhere and I’m pretty positive that nobody realizes that iTunes used to be CDs and they used to be vinyl’s and before that 8-tracks. Often media can deliver meaningless messages, but more often than not it provides educational matter. Babies are drawn to colors and learning from shows like Sesame Street but as our parents grew up they had simple things such as lights and coloring books, and my ultimate favorite, playing with rocks. Even now it’s difficult to keep up with the constant changes those cell phones and computers require. Windows 8 is personally still very hard for me to conquer. Not only have the cell phones and the constant media promotion of products increased, but magazines and newspapers have been given an increased boost with the use of the Nook or even the iPad where books, magazines, newspapers can all be downloaded on the tablet and read paperless.
How did each development influence American culture?
American culture has change drastically over the past twenty years. Companies take simple objects such as a tape player and make a cheaper version of it to develop over the times. I still remember when you still had the option of cassette or CD and then they just did away with the CD. By making the transfer of
