Continuous Professional Development

Continuous Professional Development is the process of tracking and documenting the skills, knowledge and experiences that you gain formally and informally as you work. It helps you to manage your on-going development so that you can record, review and reflect on what you have learnt. CPD is self-directed so this is driven by you and helps you to set development goals and objectives.
This is important for individuals as its proof of knowledge that you have gained so far on your journey to becoming an L & D Professional. It’s important for an L & D professional as it helps you to reflect on your learning and how to apply this to your work life and to see where there are development needs, it helps to enhance your job satisfaction and being more confident as will help you to put into practice what you have learnt.

L & D Profession Map

The L & D Professional Map is a tool that measures professional competencies and behaviours against that of L & D professionals. The map is divided up into 10 professional areas and 8 behaviours. The map is designed to be used for all L & D workers irrespective of ability and level of the role. This tool also helps you with your development needs to help you progress.
