The effect of on the of Pisum Sativum

Introduction

A Pisum Sativum is a originated in Central Asia. It was brought to America soon after the arrival of Christopher Columbus. They are the earliest maturing peas. Alaskan peas should be planted in december.

For my groups hypothesis, we said, what would happen if we changed the different kinds of soil? We believe if we use miracle grow the pea will grow faster and taller. Also, we think the original will soil will just grow slower.

Our variable is the soil, and our constant is the pot, and the amount of water. The independent variable is the original soil. And the dependent variable is the different types of soil that we use.

Results

My graph and table show how much our groups Pisum Sativum grew in 5 weeks. The first kind of soil we used was sand, it grew about 6 inches. The next one we used was garden, it grew about 5 inches. Mulch is another one we used, it grew about 4 inches. Next we used kids, that one grew about 6 inches. Finally, we used the original soil, it grew about 10 inches. This is about how many inches they all grew in 5 weeks. The original soil seemed to grow fasted over that amount of time, and the mulch grew the slowest.

Discussion

My group said that if we used Miracle Grow, the Pisum Sativum would grow faster. Thats hypothesis was never tested because we never got the Miracle Grow. Our other hypothesis was that we thought the original soil would grow slower. That hypothesis was rejected because it grew the fastest over the 5 weeks. The constant plant was more successful, then the variable plant. The variable plants did not grow as fast as the constant. Most of the variables grew only half an inch the whole time, or sometimes didn't even grow. That is why our hypothesis was rejected. This was not expected because we thought that since we were changing the soil, maybe the Pisum Sativum would grow faster. I think the variables needed more light and water, the constant seemed to be getting enough of both. Also, I believe that since we didn't water the plants on weekends, that caused some of them not to grow as much, and some days during the week we didn't water. For the Pisum
