Edger Allen Poe Assignment

Edger Allen Poe calls the first poem that I picked Alone. Alone
From the childhood’s hour I have not been
As the others were; I have not seen
As the others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery whish binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tent if gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of heaven is blue)
Of a demon in my view The meaning of this poem is that mainly the title explains it. It is about someone’s whole life when they were little. Then at the end it is when they are an adult. The person was alone and the person did not like it. So it is mainly about being alone the person’s whole life.
The reason I choose it is because I write poems. In a different was though. The poems I write has the same kind of names I have for mine. Then another reason is it sounded really cool I love poems with names like this one has. So that is why I chose this poem.

Elizabeth; it surely is most fit
(Logic and common usage so commanding)
On thy own book that first thy name be writ,
Zeno and other sages not with standing;
And I have other reasons for so doing
Besides my innate love of contradiction;

The muses thro’ their bowers of truth or fiction

Being ignorant of one important rule,
Employed in even the theses of the school-
Called – I forget the heathenish Greek name
(Called anything, it’s meaning is the same)
