My first issue is on the health care in the United States. Health care prices are increasing very rapidly. And last year about 45.7 million people had no health insurance. Obama's plan would create a National Health Insurance Exchange to help Americans purchase insurance, provide tax credits to individuals and small businesses to help them purchase insurance and also require coverage for all children. McCain on the other hand wants to give a tax credit of $2,500 per person or $5,000 per family to spend on a health plan of their choice. They would be allowed to keep their current employed-based insurance. McCain as president would encourage the use of health savings accounts, which allow individuals to put aside tax-free income to spend on health costs and insurance deductibles. In my opinion I would combine features of both plans to make one awesome plan of awesomeness. I would take Obama’s plan and add the idea of health savings accounts where individuals can put aside tax-free income to spend on health care. In this area I would defiantly go with Obama because his words are reflected by his actions, Obama voted for a bill that would have reauthorized the State Children's Health Insurance Program at $60.2 billion for five years but in the end President Bush vetoed the bill. Where as McCain voted against that bill and another bill that was for providing prescription drug coverage to seniors under Medicare.
My next issue is Education. Education in the United States is becoming increasingly expensive; if we don’t do some thing to get more students to go to college then great minds will be lost. Obama's education proposals include increasing funding for Head Start; amending the Bush administration education law known as "No Child Left Behind"; doubling funding for federal charter schools; recruiting new teachers, particularly in math and the sciences; and offering a $4,000 college tuition credit for any recipient who agrees to complete 100 hours of community service. McCain supports increased school choice proposals, including a voucher system. He would pay bonuses to teachers who agree to work in the most troubled schools. He supports alternative routes to teacher certification. McCain says his proposals would give more control to parents, teachers and principals. I think both plans are equally good and again I wouldn’t go with either one I would take aspects of each one and combine them like proposals including increasing funding for Head Start; amending the Bush administration education law known as "No Child Left Behind", and offering a $4,000 college tuition credit for any recipient who agrees to complete 100 hours of community service. My last issue is Energy a quickly depleting energy source where we need to find efficient back up sources quickly. I think one of the main reasons the economy is going poorly is because energy costs are rising so much. Obama would wean the nation of its dependence on fossil fuels by promoting alternative sources of energy.
