We have all seen the commercial from the first Bush administration, where a guy takes an egg, smashes it in a frying pan and says “This is your brain on drugs”. This was used as a scare tactic to keep people away from drugs, but sadly people still abuse drugs till this day. Consuming drugs has many damaging effects on an individual. These effects not only damage a person physically but also mentally and emotionally. To begin with, simple curiosity of drugs can lead people into risking disastrous physical effects. For example, one time usage will mostly likely turn into long term usage affecting the brain of a person by destroying brain cells. In addition, the more the consumer takes drugs the more it will affect the person’s lungs. For instance, smoking marijuana can cause lung cancer same as any drug that is consumed by smoking. It is common for drugs to affect the heart as well. Specifically, the heart beat rate while on drugs can increase to a dangerous high leading to stroke or a heart attack. Long term user’s effects are irreversible and harming these vital organs can cause death, or impair a person’s body for their entire life. Moreover, getting peer pressured to do drugs impacts a person psychologically because it will alter your thinking. For instance, my friend never in his life did drug, so when his friends persuaded him to try it once he instantly thought that he was on top of the world.
