Tropicana Alcohol Awareness Class

The Tropicana Alcohol Awareness Class I learned that the use of alcohol and drugs, especially among minors, has negative effects on both the mind and body. Drinking can cause you to get in trouble with the law and leave you an alcoholic later in life. The dangers of permanent body damage caused by heavy drinking, for example: kidney and heart failure. I learned that drinking alcohol is intaking a toxin and drug. It is a form of drug abuse, and drug addiction. There are good effects of alcohol if it is in small amounts, and in moderation. On the other hand there are short and long term effects. The effects you will get are all based on certain factors like, how much and how often alcohol is consumed, the age of the person, when the person started and how long they have been drinking for, gender, their family history and last but not least based on their health.
I didn’t only learn about alcohol, I learned about lots of other drugs as well. In the section about marijuana I learned that Marijuana is more harmful than the media portrays. Weed the shredded up leaves and flowers from the hemp plant. Weed can slow you down cognitive wise.
The class showed me that using alcohol or other drugs usually leads to nothing good. The monetary costs of drug and alcohol are very large. Buying alcohol in itself is expensive, but the expenses don’t stop at the liquor store. many times when people drink they break things, hurt themselves, or crash cars. This all leads to hospital bills, cost of property repairs, legal expenses, etc. the list really goes on and on.

Some of the short term effects of marijuana are anxiety and paranoia, impaired memory, difficulty thinking as well as a loss of attention and focus, increased heart rates, and reduced blood pressure. These effects are extremely harmful for everyone, but are more even worse to a growing youth, especially one who hopes to
