Module 3: Natural Forces Affecting the Driver
Vocabulary: Please define six (6) of the following terms in your own words. Please do not just copy and paste the definition.

1.Gravity- Gravity is the force that attracts human bodies toward the center of earth

2. Inertia- a tendency to do nothing or remained the same

3. Potential Energy- the energy that possessed a body by virtue of its position realtive to others.

4. Kinetic Energy- the energy that possessed a body by virtue of being in motion

5. Friction-the resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving over another

6. Traction- the grip of sa tire ont the road or a wheel on a rail

7. Centrifugal Force- an apparent force that acts outward on a body moving around a center

8. Centripetal Force- a force that acts o a body moving in a circular path

9. Deceleration- a decrease in rate of change

10. Force of impact-the force or impetus transmitted by a collusion

Module 4 – Signs, Signals & Pavement Markings

1. In a complete sentence (using proper spelling and grammar), explain the purpose of the following:

A. Broken yellow lines-Broken lines indicates that (if safe), you may pass the vehicle in front of you.

B. Yellow lines (broken or solid) indicate what type of traffic flow- solid yellow lines indicate lines that you may not cross. They are located as the median line between two directions in traffic. When the yellow line is broken ,it indicates that you may pass. When one line is solid and one line is broken, the side with the boken yellow line may pass; the solid may not. The lines always separate lanes of incoming traffic (such as on a highway).
C. Broken white lines- Broken white lines are lines that indicate you may cross between lanes. Suppose you are on a two or three lane highway- the broken lines between the lanes means that you may switc lanes when safe to do so.

2. Observe and describe the different signs in YOUR city. Give specific examples of each (include color, shape, what the sign is for, etc.). Write in complete sentences, using proper spelling and grammar.
A. A regulatory sign- A regulatory sign are usually in neigborhoods or school zones it’s the one that indicates “Speed Limit 15MPH”. It is white and is a vertical retangle. The words are black.
