I chose this image because I see pain being portrayed by the elderly women. The elderly women has closed eyes, her hand on her back, her mouth open, teeth grinded together, and is leaning to one side. It looks as though she is experiencing back pain from falling down stairs. What really stands out is her hand on back because when people hurt a part of them they hold the area that pain is coming from. The image has clear body language of physical pain. When you see this image, the first thing you think about is pain because of the facial expression and body language.
This image can be used for tableau, a scene study, and storytelling. For the tableau, one of the scenes could have someone getting hit with a object in the back or have the character fall down and the next scene for the tableau could be someone in the pose from this image. For the scene study, the scene could be two characters talking about pain, one of the characters being in the pose of this image and explaining how a neighbor threw a baseball the broke his window and hit the character. For the storytelling, it could be a story about how child gets hurt at school, comes to home feeling pain, eventually stands up to the bully, and stops feeling the pain.

Character: pain/nagato (Naruto)

Pain or Nagato is the embodiment of pain in the Anime series Naruto. I chose Nagato because throughout the series he feels pain, both physically and emotionally. He was born into a war country, the land of rain. During the war, his parents got killed in front of him when he was 10. After that happens, he lives in hunger stealing food from local markets. He eventually meets two children his age, Yahiko and Konan. He grew up with Yahiko and Konan; later in life he watches as Yahiko dies in front of him just like his parents and goes on a rampage killing people and believing pain is inevitable. This character goes through so much pain that he believes that peace is impossible and that death and pain is evitable.

This character could be used as an inspiration for a scene study. For the scene study, there could be a character with the same ideals as Nagato and another character debating with him whether or not true peace exists. For another scene study, there could be a character that has everything in his life get destroyed in front of him and he either gets depressed or goes berserk.
