Persuasion Assignment
Person 1
On my first attempt, I was shopping at Macy’s and it was a big sale event. There, I came to know that Macy’s was having a very good deal for “buy one and get the second one free” in men’s shirts and ties. I had some coupons which I could use on top of the sale price which made the price of those branded shirts seem pretty affordable. All of a sudden I saw my college friends Nick and Richard, two teenagers. They were looking for good deal items. My friend asked me how much I paid for my shopping so I started explaining the benefits of today’s sale price and also started persuading them. I used the central route of persuasion (the route that involves weighing arguments and considering relevant fact and figures, thinking about issues in a systematic fashion and coming to a decision) (2011) and introduced logical arguments() by saying that they could get one shirt/tie free and also use their coupons.I mentioned that if they were to come buy this same shirt tomorrow they would have to pay double price. I persuaded them by saying that it would not make any sense since they will be feeling like it’s just a day after the “that” huge sale. I also introduced the “principle of scarcity”( ) by saying “how could you miss this chance, don’t be late, be sporty!” Listening my words and information they couldn’t stop themselves from buying those shirts.

I used to work at Bloomingdale; usually their items are pretty expensive. It was Saturday and I was busy trying to finish my work on time. I noticed a couple who were in their 30’s, Asian guy and his beautiful woman. I could easily read from their body language and face expressions that they seemed interested in buying Michael Kors watch. I approached, greeted and started giving relevant information. I used central route of persuasion (the route that involves weighing arguments and considering relevant fact and figures, thinking about issues in a systematic fashion and coming to a decision), (2011) of persuasion and started giving them trustworthy information from a creditable source i.e. information from expert(…..) I also persuaded them to open credit card for Bloomingdale and said that by doing this “they could save 20% discount on their purchase today and tomorrow." I also said they would also be getting valuable coupons via email which they could use for further shopping”. It was a tough job to persuade them but finally I succeeded.
