Diana is an employee who has worked at the Cobb Street Grille for twelve years. She worked her way up from waitress to General Manager of her location, which has a high success rate even with all the competition. She is applying for a promotion to District Manager, this is the second time she is being considered for this position. The first time, 9 months ago Diana did to receive the promotion because her people skills were deemed, by her supervisors, to not be adequate. Diana has recently been named Restaurant Manager of the year and thinks she is a shoe in for the current promotion. Diana runs her restaurant very by the book and this causes some employee issues, she is dubbed the “Ice Maiden” because of her by the book attitude and her inability to try new things. This causes her restaurant to have a higher than average turnover rate when compared to the other locations managed by different managers. The meeting between Diana and her superiors that she would not be getting the promotion. The promotion would be going to another General Manager, a person Diana had trained herself three years ago. Diana leaves the room in tears before any further explanation can be given.
The key problem here is that Diana has been with the company for twelve years and she feels that she is not being considered for significant advancement but the cause of all this is Diana’s attitude towards her employees in the workplace. Diana thinks that the company is not recognizing her efforts and achievements.
