Diana’s Story
After reading Diana’s story I felt very excited to be in the teaching field and inspired by some of her ideas. In the beginning she talks about a child natural desire to be cared for. I think this is true for all students whether it is a strong desire or a subtle one. Everyone wants someone to be happy to see them or talk to them about things in their lives. I think teachers have a perfect opportunity to show their students they truly care for them.
Diana explained the importance of reflecting on each day. Whether a lesson goes terribly wrong and needs to be changed or just needs a few adjustments, it is important to take the time to figure it out. Reflecting gives the teacher time to figure out exactly where things went wrong and how they can be changed. This is something that I plan on doing as a teacher and I think will especially benefit me in the beginning. . I will also be teaching various procedures and rules to my class so that the will understand what is expected of them and can do so appropriately. I liked Diana’s idea of greeting the children at the door with a hug, handshake or high five. I think that is a great way to make each student feel welcome and start off the day positively and I would love to have these feelings in my classroom.
I really liked the idea of using “tribes” or small groups in the classroom. I think by having the students think of themselves as a tribe will help them to work together positively. I also

In the beginning of the story, there’s a perfect example of his guiltless response towards his own wrongdoing. After Boy throws a life-changing snowball at Mrs. Dempster, he feels no culpability for it: ‘‘‘I threw a snowball at you’’’ he replied to Dunny, ‘‘‘and I guess it gave…
