Current even article on Depression According to the CNN Health article titles Depression (Major depression) “Depression is a medical illness that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Depression can cause physical symptoms, too. The CNN article emphasis on Major depressive disorder, which is a type of Chronic depression. Major depression disorder affects the way one feels, behaves and thinks. People with Depression have trouble doing normal activities. Depression can lead to mental and physical problems. Depression does have a solution. People with depression can seek medication or psychological counseling . The symptoms of depression include Feelings of sadness or unhappiness, irritability or frustration, loss of interest or pleasure in normal activities, reduced sex drive, insomnia or excessive sleeping, Changes in appetite, agitation or restlessness slowed thinking, fatigue, tiredness and loss of energy, trouble making decisions and remembering things, frequent thoughts of death, dying or suicide, crying spells for no apparent reason, unexplained physical problems. People feel generally miserable or unhappy without really knowing why. According to the CNN article “if you feel depressed, make an appointment to see your doctor as soon as you can. Depression symptoms may not get better on their own — and depression may get worse if it isn't treated.” If depression is left untreated depression can lead to other mental and physical. Depression may also lead to suicide. If one is having suicidal thoughts due to depression one needs to get help right away. For example Contact a family member or friend. Ask your doctor, a mental health provider for help. Once can also call a suicide hot line number or contact a minister, spiritual leader or someone in your faith community. Suicide is not the answer to depression. There are different ways one can treat depression, for example medications.
