4.03 Ecosystems: Population Dynamics Lab Report
Purpose
The purpose of this lab is to investigate how predation, birth rates, and death rates influence the killer whale and seal populations within their marine ecosystems.
Research
Prey Initial Size: The beginning number of prey
Prey Growth Rate: The birth rate of the prey
Predator Initial Size: The beginning number of predators
Predator Death Rate: Death rate of predators; higher rate means the predators will die out quicker
Capture Efficiency: The ability of the predator to capture prey over a certain time period
Hypothesis
If the death rate of the whales increases, the carrying capacity of the seals will be lower than the carrying capacity of the whales. Materials

What Shanl We Mam? Population, as Malthus said, naturally tends to grow "geometrically," or, as we would now say, exponentially. In a finite world this means that the per capita share of the world's goods must steadily decrease. Is ours a finite world? A fair defense can be put forward for the view that the world is infinite; or The population problem has no technical solution; that we do not know that it is not. But, it requires a fundamental extension in morality. in terms of the practical problems…
Sociology & Family Theorizing and Researching 1. Structural Theories a) Materialism & Conflict theory Marx & Engles -changes in family lives reflect material change (ex, the mode of production, industrialization) macro-micro focus -power differences characterize society at all levels (ex, capitalism creates: exploitation of men in the workforce; oppression of women b) Political Economy -assumes the power of the one class over another (social control), capitalist relations of production -a more concentrated…
