The Fundamental Political Principles define and shape the American Constitutional Government. There are 5 fundamental principles of government.
Rule of Law is the fundamental principle that says the government must obey the laws, just as the people do. No one is above the law. All people, including those who governed are bound by the law. What it means Everyone must follow the rules even our leaders. A perfect example of the rule of law (article 2 section 1) is the possibility of impeachments of US presidents. In America, the highest executive is still subject to justice. No one is exempt from the law. Limited Government is the fundamental principle that says the government should not have absolute power. The Government may only do those things people have given it the power to do. What it means is the Government is only as powerful as the people allow it to be. A perfect example of this is that in the U.S., the government is divided into three branches that can each stop, or check, actions of the other branches. (Articles 1,2,3) Consent of the Governed is the fundamental principle that the people are the only legitimate source of a government's power. What it means is that the People allow the government to rule for them. (Article 21) An example is that If people don't like a senator they have the right to kick him out, if enough people agree that he/she is doing a bad job. Democracy Government is a system of government in which the people hold the ultimate power to make the laws. The jury system is the only truly democratic part of our government because that is the only part in which ordinary people have a real say, because the people rule, which means the people have the voice in government. (Article 4, Section 4,)
