Definition of Disorders

Academic definition of psychological disorder is defined “as ongoing pattern of thoughts, feelings, and actions that are deviant, distressful, and dysfunctional” (Mayer).
According to psychologies, standard level of deviant behaviors considered differently in different cultures and circumstances. For example, in some culture, connections with sprit of ancestor reasonable behavior, but other cultures find it as insane. Another example, going into crowded place after staying alone for long time in quite place, causes you hesitation and odd action that considered as abnormal by some people.
However, psychologist point out that deviant behavior generally makes the person distress and also if deviant and distressful behavior to be excepted if it is decided to be a harmful dysfunction (Mayer). For example, the reaction of dark might be not considered as a disorder, but if it affected continually the person health, it is to be accepted as a disorder.
There are correlations between normal and abnormal behavior, and metal, physical and cultural well begin. If the person behavior link with the normal pattern that is accepted by society, which is considered as normal, if not is considered as abnormal; however, this action creates false perception of abnormal and normal behavior.
If I try to describe disordered, normality and abnormality, in my view, I must ask these questions to myself; what behavior is abnormal and normal and what is not. How can we define abnormality and normality or what method should we follow to find out our normal and abnormal behavior? I have to point out that descriptions of abnormal and normal behaviorism depend on cultural and social values. While exception of behavior vary culture to culture, some behavior excepted as normal in one community but abnormal in another community.
For example, I found as abnormal one of my customer behaviors when she colored her hair for her mother’s funeral because in my culture, this kind of action considered as abnormal behavior and to be considered as a mental illness, but in here, is accepted as a normal behavior, and her action is considered as respect of her mother.
Definition of Normal Behavior:
“Normality refers to adjustment. The traits or a characteristic of well adjusted individual or mentally healthy individual or psychologically well adjusted individual is reflected by the following.” (ZeePedia) Also, individual behavior goes with exceptional cultural norms, social norms and statistical norms as well.
Definition of Abnormal Behavior:
The word abnormal means “away from the norm”, which mean maladjustment that the individual behavior is not going with acceptable behavior patters, and also individual shows unhealthy mental action.

The following criteria are using to determine whether the individual behavior is abnormal or not: deviant, distress, dysfunction, and danger.
Deviant behavior “means varied extreme extraordinary and strange”
Distress “refers to unpleasant or upsetting behavior of an individual”
Dysfunctional “in a way that possibly can become dangerous as well”
