FLIGHT ATTENDANT
(speaks over the PA system)
Flight 57 is delayed for four hours due to the weather.
JAMES groans. He drags his bag over to the seats. He sits down and places his bag next to him. He take out his phone. He unlocks it and he checks instagram. After, he texts his friend and tells him about the delay. He sighs. He looks around the waiting area of the airport. The airport is pretty loud for the time of day. He didn't expect many people to be here.
JAMES
(to himself)
That's what I get for flying during the holidays.
He sighs again. He sees people sitting in their seats, looking annoyed. Some have little kids. Those little kids are running around, making noise, but their parents yell at them. They drag them back to their seats. He looks down and looks back up. He sees a well dressed MAN. He's clothing is business causal. He has his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. The MAN paces back and forth while talking on the phone. He looks nervous and upset.
MAN
It's not my fault sir. What am I suppose to do? It's not like I can make them fly the plane.
The MAN keeps pacing.
MAN
I'm sorry, I don't how to fix it. I swear I'll be there in time. Alright. Bye sir.
The MAN hangs up and looks through his phone. He slowly walks back to his seat. As he does this, he walks into a wall. JAMES snickers to himself. He looks around to see if anyone saw. He gets to his seat and sits down. He looks at his watch and groans. He slumps into his seat and takes out his headphones. He puts his headphones in and crosses his arms.
JAMES
(to himself)
That poor idiot. At least he made me laugh a little.
He looks at his phone again. He takes out his headphones and listens to his music.
JAMES
(scrolls through the songs)
What should I do?
He picks a song. He takes out a book. JAMES couldn't believe it. Out of all the days, it had to be today. He was excited to go visit his friend. They are suppose to go to a concert to see their favorite band. He sighs. He opens the book and begins reading. He looks up and sees the MAN sleeping.He looks back to his book. He looks back up and sees a GIRL with her FRIEND. They look like they're in an intense conversation. He turns down his music to listen to their conversation.
GIRL
Like, I can't believe he told you that. What an asshole! He can't tell you one thing and like tell me something different. Who does he think he is?!
FRIEND
Well, he's like just looking out for your well being. He just thinks you're not thinking about it enough.
JAMES thinks this conversation is interesting. He turns his music down even more.
GIRL
If I want to get my bellybutton pierced, then like I will. He like can't tell me what to do!
FRIEND
(rolls eyes)
Actually, he can. He is your dad.
GIRL
(scoffs)
He's like not my real dad.
FRIEND
Ugh, whatever! Let's talk about something else.
