Dagg tackling top rugby camp
SCONE Junior Rugby Union Club’s Jacob Dagg is set to tackle the big boys on the field. The Scone Grammar School student has been awarded a prestigious McDonald’s-sponsored scholarship to attend the New England Mutual National Rugby Camp in Armidale next month. Dagg was selected by the Scone Junior Rugby Union Club committee and its coaches because of his outstanding dedication to rugby and his sportsmanship. But, most importantly, it was his ability to read and play the game of Union at a level worthy of his rep caps during 2012.The scholarship will enable him to further his understanding of passing and catching, tackling, ruck and maul skills; teach him basic nutrition and ways to improve fitness and endurance. McDonald’s is a major sponsor of Central North Junior Rugby and has been a major contributor to the scholarship program for a number of years. Each year in January, the National Rugby Camp is hosted in Armidale and provides a learning experience for many young boys and girls, particularly those from regional areas. Meanwhile, the Scone Brumbies will also host a rugby clinic during the Christmas school holidays-on January 23 and 24-at Scone Rugby Park. Coaching will be given by a number of NSW Rugby Community Development staff and senior Scone players, all under the guidance of ex-Queensland Reds development officer and current Scone head coach Ryan Dunnett. The cost is $35 for one day or $50 for both. The books are still open to anyone
