1.1 Explain what is meant by:
Diversity: Diversity literally means difference. Diversity recognizes that though people have things in common with each other, they are also different and unique in many ways. Diversity is about recognizing and valuing those differences. Diversity therefore consists of visible and non-visible factors, which include personal characteristics such as background, culture, personality and work-style in addition to the characteristics that are protected under discrimination legislation in terms of race, disability, gender, religion and belief, sexual orientation and age.
Equality: Equality means treating people in a way that is appropriate for their needs.
Inclusion: Educational inclusion is about equal opportunities for all pupils, whatever their age, gender, ethnicity, attainment and background. It pays particular attention to the provision made for, and the achievement of, different groups of pupils within a school.
Discrimination: Discrimination is the prejudicial treatment of an individual based on their membership in a certain group or category.
1.2 Describe ways in which discrimination may deliberately or inadvertently occur in the work setting.

Discrimination may deliberately occur in the work place because they may be being treated less favourable, or treated differently because of their gender, age, race, disability, sexuality, or religion.
Discrimination may inadvertently take place when a rule or policy that applies equally to everybody is more restrictive for people from a certain group. For example if a company gives information about its policies only in English

1.3 Explain how practices that support equality and inclusion reduce the likelihood of discrimination.
By supporting a person’s equality you are treating them as equal and including them in all activities, you will be reducing the likelihood of discrimination.

2.3 Describe how to challenge discrimination in a way that encourages change.
You should never ignore or excuse such discriminatory behaviour any more than you would ignore or excuse someone if they inflicted physical pain on someone else. Must be addressed because if you do not respond and just let the incident pass you are contributing to the person feeling that it is acceptable to speak or behave that way. To promote change you need to change people’s attitude towards other races, sexuality, religion etc. We try to educate our children in school about different culture, disabilities by doing things like having time so
