I am writing to express my sincere interest about the event planning position at the Hyatt in Boston. I heard of this position through the company’s posting on LinkedIn. I am currently a hospitality and tourism major in Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. My education is a top priority of mine, which I why I chose to go to a school with a renowned hospitality program. I also have acquired extensive customer service, social media and online marketing skills by doing an independent internship for Young and Relentless Students.

At UMass I have studied hotel management as well as tourism and event planning. For example, in my Hospitality 334: Event Management class, I was given the task to create my own event planning business and also customize my own brand's event. Working on this project helped polish my Microsoft Publisher skills and gave me a chance to think creatively about the event planning industry. I also got to budget my own business for the first time by using Microsoft Excel.

My event planning skills extend beyond an academic setting. Through my independent internship with Young and Relentless Students, I have been able to use my skills in a real world scenario.
