Reflection of 9/11
As of right now I would think that the freshest historical event of today is the events that took place on 9-11. This day alone has changed so many lives then and is still changing lives today. My paper to this event may be a little curved on the opinions of a military veteran who has seen so many lives changed because of this one event and yet I see so many lives still being changed from day to day news broadcast. This one event was one of America’s most terrible memorable moments, so many lives lost in the matter of minutes and yet so many more lives lost in the years that followed. With all the lives that were lost you have so many families’ that suffered the loss of a loved one. Every year on the anniversary of the even moments of silence take place, the presidents makes some sort of speech and up in New York City all the names of the fallen Americans are called out one by one in order to remember them. Just to give an idea of how many lives were lost, this year I was watching the CNN news I believe it was and they were live at ground zero for the ceremony and it took over two hours to read every single name that was lost at ground zero. Till this day it’s still unbelievable to many American’s, America could not have imagined something so tragic would take place on their soil and still remains unbelievable every anniversary.
The day of 9-11 is the day where planes were hijacked in the skies by terrorist who took their own lives in order to try and bring down a great country. Two planes hit the World Trade Center the first hit the north tower at 8:46 and the second hitting the south tower at 9:03 am. (05 Oct 2012) Within minutes of the first tower being hit the city of New York was already in a panic by the time the second tower was hit America was in a panic and in disbelief at the same time while watching live on CNN. When the towers begin to fall words were barely put into place to describe the events that had occurred, and hearts of American’s all over the country broke at such a sight coming from their tv’s. This event indeed occurred, and in the opinions of many it has very conflicting views on why the occurrence of such a devastation act would take place. This event alone took down both World Trade Centers and a portion of the Pentagon and not to forget the fourth planes full of passengers that was also hijacked, so we ask how such an event of such magnitude took place when we have all sorts of securities in place and all types of government agencies whom are supposed to stop such an attack before it happens. People of America believe that the government was given enough information but the US took them lightly. “A message is posted on Alsaha.com, a website based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, apparently warning of the 9/11 attacks. It proclaims that in the next two days, a “big surprise” is coming from the Saudi Arabian region of Asir” (Complete 9/11 Time Line 10/03/2012). Also on this same sight someone who was in Jordan posted a statement that stated “a strike is close to zero hour” (Complete 9/11 Time Line 10/03/2012). In the same9/11 time line it is said that there are gaps in former President Bush’s counter Terrorism funding and that also that there was a leak to the media of the US’s investigation to Israeli’s spying in the US. These are all little bits and pieces of events that took place that I too believe should have not been taken lightly. Another example of this is that one of the terrorist Ziad Jarrah was ticketed for speeding in Maryland. If their were some sort of red flag in his file in which local police could identify maybe he could have been arrested and questioned. Instead Jarrah was never questioned and just ticketed and released to go about his business. This sounds like a pretty reasonable action by local police but here is the height of the point. The reason for the need be of a red flag in Jarrah’s file was that he was questioned in January of
