Constitution Party

About the Constitution Party
The Constitution Party has seven main principles, which are applicable to almost every issue. They are pro-life. They place a lot of value on liberty. This includes religious freedom and personal liberties. They are against gay marriage because a marriage should be between a husband and a wife. They also fight for each individual's right to personal and private property, without government burden.
Constitution party members aim to interpret the Constitution according to the actual intent of the Founding Fathers. They are big supporters of state sovereignty.
Whatever is not specifically delegated to the federal government by the
Constitution, or prohibited to the states, is reserved to the states. They believe in an
American government that is committed to the protection of the borders, trade, and common defense, NOT foreign alliances.

Free Trade
The Constitution Party agrees that trade across international boundaries is great, but they also support taxes on foreign imports as a primary source for raising revenue for the federal government. According to Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution, taxes placed on foreign goods are a legitimate method of raising revenue, on which the United States government may properly rely on. The United States has relied on a revenue taxing system during most of the nation’s history. In addition, the
Constitution declares that Congress has the power “To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations.” The Constitution Party believes it is unconstitutional to transfer authority over U.S. trade policy from Congress to agencies.

Abortion
In holding strong belief of the Pro-Life ideology, the party stands in full belief that our government should not permit abortions. According to the National Chairman of the
Constitution Party, Howard Phillips, the party holds the same beliefs that abortion is unconstitutional and it should not be legalized. The party regards unborn children as people and abortion doctors should be prosecuted for homicide. It is not within the party’s beliefs to permit and allow abortion and it should be ended. Based on the
