1. When we are involved in conflict what factors may influence us?
We are involved in conflict when we thinks something is happened in the opposite ways with your mind, or you are entangled with something. For example, in Montana 1948, Wes knows his brother Frank rapes his female Indian patients, he responds “I wish you hadn’t told the sheriff” which demonstrates that he has internal conflict between the law and loyalty to his family. Wes is a sheriff and his job is to keep the town safe and investigate the cases. But if he investigates Frank’s case, people will know a popular family has a war hero who rapes Indian woman. So he is crippled by internal conflict. That shows we are involved in conflict when we thinks something is happened in the opposite ways with your mind, or you are entangled with something.
2. How may our background affect the way we respond to conflict?
Our background can affect the way we respond to conflict easily. As an example, Wes decides to investigate Frank’s crimes, but when their first investigation that illustrates there is truth to Marie’s claims, Wes says “I don’t want this all over town, Gail. We don’t have proof of anything” and “I don’t want this getting back to my father.” Wes changes his mind, because Wes’s family is a popular family and also very rich and powerful, so if Frank’s case is known for most of people in this town, his family will be in humiliated. So our background can affect the way we respond to conflict easily.
3. Is conflict the catalyst of change?
Conflict is the catalyst of change. For instance, Wes change his perspective of the Indian people. When Gail tells Wes Maire told her Frank raped her and touched
