CHAPTER 1
Introduction
A computerized identification system is used to verify the identity of a person. The data is stored in a database of a server. An identification card is a card giving identifying data about a person, as full name, address, age, and color of hair and eyes, and often containing a photograph: for use as identification at a place of employment, school, club, etc. There are various types of identification systems available and implemented across the globe. These are Biometric (finger, hand or iris recognition), Voice Identification, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Radio-Frequency Identification, and Bar code. Each has its own capabilities but nevertheless, effective for identification purposes.
The bar-coded

Specific Problems * Having two very similar cards * It takes time before the ID and Library cards are released * Time-consuming manual identification at the entrance gates of the school * Security in the campus

Objectives of the Study General Objective The objective of this study is to develop a computerized bar-coded Identification System for National College of Business and Arts that will minimize errors in its process.
Specific Objective * To have a single ID card which also serves as a library card * To print the ID cards instantly * To create a system that will automate the identification procedures at the entrance gates of the school * To improve the security of the school through the computerized identification system

Scope and Limitation of the Study
Scope
The proposed identification system will use the barcode technology for the following purposes: identification, library use, registration, payment of fees, and viewing of grades.
The proposed bar coded identification system will provide access control on the entrance gates of the school. All students will be supplied with photo school ID cards that must be used and wear at all times inside the school grounds.
The new ID card will also serve as the library card, thus eliminating the need to produce another card which is very similar to the ID card.

The proposed system aimed to benefit the following: * The School
