Showers or Baths?
The debate between what is better, showers or baths has gone on far too long, and I will prove that there is really only one real correct answer. Showers are a more superior way to cleanse oneself than baths for many reasons. Showers save water by not having to fill a bathtub of 70 gallons, you’re not bathing in your own filth because it washes off in a downwards motion and you can change the temperature and pressure of the water if needed instead of sitting and waiting for the water to eventually get cold. Showers are quick and easy, less time consuming and accomplish the task of getting yourself fresh and squeaky clean in the most superior way. If you ask people what is their preference - showers or baths? The answers will include many points on why showers/baths are more superior, but in the end there will only be one clear winner, and the winner will succeed by far – showers!
Showers are superior because they save lots of water. A normal bathtub holds around 70 gallons of water -and that’s only one bath! Assuming you take a bath every day, you use up to 490 gallons of water per week (That weighs about 4067 pounds!). On the other hand, taking a 5 minute shower only uses 10-25 gallons of water, making that a weekly average of 91 gallons of water. Now you might say that some people stay in the shower for much longer than 5 minutes, but in a recent study made by Kevin O’Keefe -The author of “The Average American” states that the average person takes approximately 4-6 minutes in the shower. Clearly, most people shower in the morning and do not wish to be late for work.
In addition, showers are superior to baths because when you are taking a bath the filth that you are trying to get rid of goes right into the water in which you lay. Kevin O’Keefe also said that the average person takes a bath of about 30 minutes long, which means that when washing yourself in a bath you are sitting in your filth for at least half an hour. Let’s hope you don’t fall asleep in the bath, a potential dirty and dangerous safety hazard! When taking a shower the filth is taken off of your body because the water flows in a downwards motion right into the drain. In other words, taking a bath really means that when you are trying to clean yourself you are effectively getting dirtier.
