In doing a comparison with a friend on the average American’s perceptions about Muslim/Arab American and Christian American groups, I was surprised to see that my friends view was very different from mine. The two tables are the same in that my friend thinks other people feel that Christian Americans are good neighbors, they are devout, governed by Biblical law and are sexiest. These two tables are different in that I feel most people think Christian Americans are well educated and Muslin and Arab Americans are not. My friend feels as though most people feel that both groups are both educated and undereducated. This reason for the differences could be from some people not understanding the cultures of the two being Christian Americans and Muslim and Arab Americans. Most people think that Muslim and Arab American women stay home and the husband would go out and get jobs and work and the women are not educated at all. In the tables neither table list descriptor in both group categories. One true fact about Muslims is that are governed by the teaching of the Cur ‘an, (Schaefer, 2006). One thing about Christian Americans is they are very religious and they worship the same God as the Muslim Americans, (Schaefer, 2006). I don’t feel that either the Christian, Muslim or Arab Americans are violent and sexiest. I think that people on the average in America’s perception of each of these groups come from public opinion.
