Combining Nursing Leadership with Advocacy
According to Dictionary.com, a strength is the quality or state of being strong, a mental power, force, or vigor; a weakness is the lack of strength, an inadequate quality. We all have and carry our own strengths and weaknesses of qualities. As I’ve learned in class this week, every nurse can be a leader. It was difficult to see the leader in myself until I took the Nurse Manager Skills Inventory by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. There are four areas I am going to discuss here about the Inventory: First is my personal and
Secondly, knowing your future, which is planning where you want to go in your career and what you need to get there; what are the needs of health care in the future and where will you fit in and I rated competent, again. What makes me competent in this area is that I am currently a BSN student, increasing my level of education to help boost my career along. This class, Trends and Issues in Health Care, has helped greatly to open my eyes to many nursing issues of today, think about them, and change my thinking about many things; that’s a positive! Lastly, positioning myself, which is the development of a career path/plan for myself that provides direction while offering flexibility and capacity to adapt to future scenarios. Again, I rated myself middle, competent, in this area because I am currently a student. I am actively learning to adapt to my surroundings. As for strengths and weaknesses of this career planning area, my strength is my current state of being a student and furthering my education to further my career. I don’t see any weaknesses in this area.
