Discussion
1. Yes molecules are moving due to diffusion.
2. Because molecules are in constant motion it makes it easier for molecules to move.

Question: What is the permeability result of the I2KI solution?
Hypothesis: The solution with H2O and I2KI will be more permeable than any other solution.
Prediction: If the I2KI solution has not reducing sugar then the solution will turn blue.
Table 3.1:
Solution Source Original
Contents Original
Color Final
Color Color After Benedict’s Test
Bag Glucose
Starch Clear Light blue Yellow
Beaker I2KI
Water Yellow-amber Yellow-amber Dark yellow orange-red tint
Control Water Clear Clear Clear blue tint

Discussion:
1. Beaker – when benedicts solution as added turned blue
Bag – when benedicts was added solution turned blue
Control – Nothing happened when benedicts was added.
2. The I2KI solution reacted with the elements in it. While the other two had no reaction.
3. The I2KI molecules are larger.
4. The bag would be yellow and the beaker would be blue. Because the I2KI is what is reacting with the benedicts.
Exercise 3.2

Exercise 3.3 A
Question: Will the higher the osmolarity cause more change in weight in the potatos?
Hypothesis: The osmolarity of sucrose in the potato is going to be between .03M and .04M.
Prediction: When the osmolarity is higher is when the change in the weight of the potato will be more significant.
