Dear Your Highness,

The mercantilism policies established in Britain are very beneficial to merchants like myself and our country as a whole. The Navigational Act implemented in our mercantilism policy was a wise move to help Britain grow more powerful. The life of a mercantilist has changed immensely after the enforcement of these policies and I believe that you should keep them in place. Our mercantilism policies will aid us against the threat of a strong Dutch trading system, we can benefit from being the only nation to trade with the Americas, and we will increased our naval power.

The Dutch are quickly growing a powerful trading system. For this reason, they are challenging us for power. If we let the Dutch continue shipping with our colonies in America, they (Dutch) will soon be more powerful than us. The Navigational Act that we have established restricts our colonies to only trade with us therefore, cutting trade off with the Dutch. This strategic move will surely hamper the Dutch from continuing their rise in power, and grant that power to us.

Since the Navigational Act only allows the American colonies to trade with us, they will provide us with their many abundant resources such as tobacco and raw materials for goods. Since we will be the only country to have access to these resources, we will be able to sell these items to other nations and charge more because of their rarity. Also we are able to get raw materials at a low cost
