Cloud computing is a general term for anything that involves delivering hosted services over the Internet. These services are broadly divided into three categories: Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). A cloud service has three distinct characteristics that differentiate it from traditional hosting. It is sold on demand, typically by the minute or the hour; it is elastic -- a user can have as much or as little of a service as they want at any given time; and the service are fully managed by the provider and the consumer needs nothing but a personal computer and Internet access.
As CIO of a company, I would implement cloud computing due to the plethora of benefits it has to offer such as the following: * Scalability- IT departments that anticipate an enormous uptick in user load need not scramble to secure additional hardware and software with cloud computing. Instead, an organization can add and subtract capacity as its network load dictates. Better yet, because cloud-computing follows a utility model in which service costs are based on consumption, companies pay for only what they use. * Easy Implementation:-Without the need to purchase hardware, software licenses or implementation services, a company can get its cloud-computing arrangement off the ground in record time — and for a fraction of the cost of an on-premise solution. * Frees Up Internal Resources- By placing storage and server needs in the hands of an outsourcer, a company essentially shifts the burden placed on its in-house IT team to a third-party provider. The result: In-house IT departments can focus on business-critical tasks without having to incur additional costs in manpower and
Cloud Computing We use our computers for just about everything. Whether you use a desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone, the way you store your information is important. Not only knowing how to store your information, but the availability to access it is also important. Storing information on your computer is relatively easy, but what happens when you start to run out of space? You could buy another hard drive and transfer your data, but that is not easy and takes time. You could burn…
TOPIC: CLOUD COMPUTING ABSTRACT Cloud computing is basically an internet based network made up of large number of servers – mostly based on open standards, modular and inexpensive. It reduces the time required to procure heavy resources and boot new server instances in minutes, allowing one to quickly scale capacity, both up and down, as ones requirement changes. Clouds contain vast amounts of information and provide a variety of services to large…
Cloud Computing CIS 500 Dr. Steven Huber Staci Jones Strayer University September, 4, 2014 1. Assess how Ericsson benefitted from Amazon Web Service in terms of cost reduction, automated software updates, remote access, and on-demand availability. Ericsson was able to benefit from the resources that Amazon provided. Amazon had grown to dominate the cloud computing market. Amazon was able to help Ericsson and other companies save money and increase productivity offering their web services…
Cloud Computing Group Members Ruth Wanjiru Cliff Kinyua Maritim Leonard Alphonse Kinyua Tracy Gathoni Abstract. Cloud computing is Internet-based computing, whereby shared information, resources, and software, are provided to terminals and portable devices on-demand. It is a rapidly developing and excellent promising technology. Cloud computing is the product of the combination of grid computing, distributed computing, parallel computing, and ubiquitous computing. Cloud Computing model…
ABSTRACT Cloud computing is defined by Cearly and Phifer in their case study titled “Case Studies in Cloud Computing” as “a style of computing in which scalable and elastic IT-related capabilities are provided ‘ as a service’ to customers using Internet technologies”. Cloud computing services had been provided by major vendors such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and others for business computing until recently when Apple Corporation announced iCloud for consumers. Therefore…
Running head: Cloud Computing Cloud Computing 25 August 2013 Abstract By now most of us in Information Technology (IT) have heard the term “Cloud Computing”. In my own words, Cloud Computing is the future of IT, combining capabilities of virtualization, distributed computing, utility computing, and networking. Cloud Computing provides consumers and businesses with software and services while reducing footprint and overhead. Along with the…
Case Study 2: Cloud Computing CIS 500 Dr. Janet Durgin June 2, 2013 Case Study 2: Cloud Computing As we know, Ericsson is the number one supplier in modern advancements and support to operators of telecommunication every cell phone carrier has some form of Ericsson technologies. Ericsson has its roots in Sweeden and its footprint or influence stretches over 175 countries and has more then ninety thousand employees. Ericsson wanted to advance from the level they were already…
Cloud Computing Southern University at New Orleans College of Business and Public Administration Department of Management Information System CISP 685-01 Information Security Foundation Instructor: G.S. Alijani By Manisha Biyyam Spring 2015 Cloud Computing Definition: The expression cloud itself means something dim, fogy, dark, foul, or indistinctly characterized. As it were, it needs to do with virtualization and reflection of computing services and assets. Hence, cloud computing…
INTRODUCTION TO CLOUD COMPUTING The Geek myths tell of creatures plucked from the surface of the earth enshrined as constellations in the night sky. Something similar is happening today in the world of computing. Data and programs are being swept up from the desktop PCs and server rooms and installed in “the computer cloud”. In general there is a shift in geography of computation. The basic definition of what exactly is cloud computing is “An emerging computer paradigm where data and services reside…
Cloud computing is a form of technology where IT resources are made available as a service using the internet rather than getting the hardware/software deployed on personal computers. Cloud computing involves provision of cloud servers as a network of many servers that are connected to each other from various points or locations across the globe via one principle connection like the internet. Cloud server hosting takes away the various limitations that the customers were facing with the web hosting…
