Conclusion The purpose of this experiment was to test if the color of a clippie had an effect on its likelihood to survive. The color phases of clippies are green, white, blue, and pink. The habitat that they live in is primarily blue. The vegetation in the habitat is pink, dark blue, green, and white.
To begin the experiment, we were given the habitat we would be observing and 20 clippies of each color (80 total). In our experiment, the habitat is represented by a blue fabric with designs that are pink, dark blue, green, and white. The clippies were represented by paper clips of each color- blue, green, white, and pink. One person was the moderator and their job was to set up the experiment while the other people where not looking. The…show more content… Each of these 20 surviving clippies will have three offspring. Two of these offspring will be the same color as their parent and one will be any of the four color phases of the clippies. The gene pool was created by having a cup of paper clips of all the colors that the clippies could be that twenty paper clips were drawn from at random. After the new generation of clippies is created, the same cycle happens again. In this experiment there were four…show more content… In this experiment, the blue clippies were more likely to survive as they have the natural advantage of being better hidden in their natural habitat from their predators than clippies of other colors. Because they blend in more with their environment, the birds are less likely to see them than the clippies that stand out on the blue background. Since the birds see the clippies that stand out against the habitat first, those are the clippies that they go after to eat. When the clippies reproduced, more blue clippies were born since most of the survivors were blue- most of the clippies born are the same color as their parent. Each population was progressively more over run by blue clippies until the fourth generation ended with no clippies of any
