Climate change is one of the most important scientific, economic threats facing the earth. There are many factors that lead to climate change, such as greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide and fossil fuels. Climate change is the consequence of unchecked pollution. When carbon emissions caused by human activity enter the air they have dangerous effects on the environment, the economy, and our wellbeing (1).
Global Warming is the increase of Earth's average surface temperature due to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth. This is a type of greenhouse effect. When fossil fuels such as coal are burnt, it releases carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping “greenhouse gases” into the atmosphere. Though natural amounts of carbon dioxide have varied from 180 to 300 parts per million (ppm), today’s levels are around 400 ppm, 40% more than the highest natural levels over the past 800,000 years (2).
Human beings are the reason for the large concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, it has increased by around 30% in which is extremely significant on inter-glacial timescales (3). The increase in fossil fuel combustion and changes in land use, have correlated with the ratio difference of carbon elements in atmospheric CO2 from human caused emissions. If humans continue destroying forestry and burning fossil fuels, the earth temperature will continue to warm up due to carbon dioxide concentrations reaching a new level never seen on earth in the last 50 million years (3).
It is evident that the earths temperature is rising due to global warming, We also can tell that the additional carbon dioxide in the atmosphere comes mainly from coal and oil because the chemical composition of the carbon dioxide contains a unique fingerprint.
Losing forests makes it worse Clearing forests also releases large amounts of carbon dioxide. On top of that, plants and trees use it to grow. Worldwide deforestation means we don’t have as many trees to absorb the extra carbon dioxide.
This means more of it stays in the atmosphere, trapping more heat.
