THE FRNCH REVOLUTION HAD A MAJOR IMPACT ON THE FORMATION OF THE
ROMANTIC PERIOD. AT THE TIME, ARTISTS STARTED TO USE THEIR ABILITY IN MUSIC
TO RELEASE ALL THE EMOTION AND EXPRESS THEMSELVES, FREELY AND
PERSONALLY. THE MUSIC IN ROMANTIC PERIOD WAS MAJORLY CONTAINED WARM,
EXPRESSIVE, INTERPRETATION OF FREEDOM, MELODIES AND HARMONIC COLOUR.
THE ROMANTIC PERIOD DEVELOPED OVER HUNDREDS OF YEARS AND MANY NEW
FORMS EMERGED DURING THIS PERIOD. MUSICIANS STARTED IMPROVING THEIR
INSTRUMENT VERSIONS AND IN THIS TIME TREMENDOUS EMOTIONAL RESPONSE
WAS EXPRESSED. THE MELODIES WERE MAINLY LONG, LYRICAL, EXTENSIVE USE OF
CHROMATICISM AND INCLUDED VIVID CONTRASTS. THERE WERE FREQUENT
CHANGES IN BOTH TEMPO AND TIME SIGNATURES AND ALMOST ALL WERE MOSTLY
HOMOPHONIC.BEETHOVEN HAD A MAJOR IMPACT ON THE TRANSITION OF CLASSICAL
TO ROMANTIC PERIODS. SOME OF THE OTHER GREAT COMPOSERS OF THE
ROMANTIC PERIOD WERE, TCHAIKOVSKY, SCHUBERT, LISZT, BERLIOZ, VERDI AND
PUCCINI.
. BIOGRAPHY
Ludwig van Beethoven was a German musician and artist, born on 17, December 1770. A crucial figure in the move between the classical and Romantic times in Western music. He stays a standout amongst the most famous and prosperous of all composers. Ludwig forms a huge peak in the development of tonal music and is one of the most revolutionary developments in the history of music as a whole. His best­known works, incorporate 9 symphonies, 5 concertos for piano, 1 violin concerto, 32 piano sonatas, and 16 string quartets.

He was born on or about December 17, 1770 in the city of Bonn in the Holy Roman Empire.
Although his exact date of birth is not certain, Beethoven was born on or about December 17,
1770.
Beethoven had two younger brothers, Caspar and Johann. Beethoven's mother, Maria
Magdalena van Beethoven, was a deeply moralistic and loving woman. His father, Johann van
Beethoven, was a court singer but his addiction to alcohol overshadowed any of his ability in music. However, Beethoven's grandfather, Kapellmeister Ludwig van Beethoven, was one of the most prominent musician in his own times, and was an endless pride for young Ludwig.
Beethoven's father began teaching him music with an extraordinary rigour and harshness which had major effects on him, for the rest of his life.
He studied the violin and clavier with his father as well as taking additional lessons around town.
Whether in spite of or his fathers draconian methods, Beethoven showed what an extremely gifted musician he is, and from a young age, proved his creative ability and that he could in the long run, reach more success than any musician, before or since. At the age of 10, Beethoven quit from school to study music full time with Christian Gottlob Neefe, the recently selected

Court Organist. He was really a positive, stabilizing influence on Beethoven during his teenage years. Neefe Introduced Beethoven to the works of Bach, and assisted him with the publication of his first composition, an arrangement of piano variations by a march theme of Dressler. The following year, in 1783, Neefe wrote in the Magazine of Music, about his student. “If he continues like this, he will be, without a doubt, the new Mozart.” In Vienna, the young musician started taking class with Haydyn and after awhile started his own tours around Europe. In 1800,
Beethoven had a new concert in Vienna including, with the presentation of his first symphony.
Beethoven confessed to his friends that he is slowly going deaf, however his disability didn’t stop him to go on with his career in music and he continued composing some of his best works.
In this period he met and made friends with so many great and well known people and continued composing his other 8 symphonies as well as his other works. These days we find his work classical, and close to the works of Mozart and Haydn, however, at that time, the audience found the symphony strange and
