"The Laughter Continues"
On Thursday the world lost the iconic comedienne Joan Rivers. Not only was she a comic legend, she helped change fashion into what it is today. For example, she started the classic 'who are you wearing?' on the Red Carpet and made it into the business-like extravaganza it is today. Before, ladies and gentleman attending the Golden Globe Awards or the Academy Awards would only walk on the carpet to enter the building venue and women would only buy a dress because they liked it, not because they knew the designer or got paid to wear it. Nowadays designers use celebrities as physical moving and talking billboards to showcase their work. Before Joan, there was none of that. With her show 'Fashion Police' showing on E! she shamelessly would critique celebrities for what they wore and the best part is she wouldn't care if A-listers were offended, it was all for entertaining people. After all she said "I succeeded by saying what other people were thinking."
Now that she's passed, her wit and love for entertainment hasn't died with her, in fact, she has an outlandishly spectacular vision for her funeral, to be carried out by her daughter Melissa Rivers. In her 2013 book 'I hate everyone...starting with me' she describes what she hopes her funeral will look like:
"When I die (and yes, Melissa, that day will come; and yes, Melissa, everything's in your name), I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action…I want Craft services, I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene!
