General Course Information – Dealing with Time and Scheduling
In a typical on-ground 4-credit hour science course, students should expect to spend about 3 hours in lecture each week, and 3 hours in lab, and another 12 hours of outside time on homework and class activities, for a total of 18 hours per week. The intensity and complexity of science topics generally require 3 hours of outside work for each hour spent in lecture. However, because this course is 100% online, a students should expect to spend about 20 hours on coursework including performing the labs and writing the lab reports. This time commitment can come as quite a shock, so: PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY Students often over-schedule themselves, and then they are not able to devote the time necessary to being academically successful.
