2. The form that the British rule took under the Raj was the British ruled over the Indian Subcontinent when it took control from the East India Company following the Mutiny of 1857. Natives and princely states that came under the British who were responsible for foreign and military affairs were self-governed.
3. Imperialism contributes to unity and to the growth of nationalism in India because British became a common enemy for a number of disparate groups.
