Children aged 3-7 years go thorough many stages of physical development. Starting from aged 3-4 years children are able to “Moves freely and with pleasure and confidence in a range of ways, such as slithering, shuffling, rolling, crawling, walking, running, jumping, skipping, sliding and hopping” (Date assessed 24/10/13)
They can also manipulate small objects so they should be able to thread beads through a lace and their movement and balance improves so they can jump with both feet together. At aged 4-5 they are becoming more confident with themselves so they should be able to throw with aim and catch a ball. They should be able to travel with confidence over, around and through climbing equipment. As they are getting older they can do much more and by 6-7 years they should be able to ride a bike and be able to write. Although some children will develop at a faster or slower pace than others.
Social and emotional development in children aged 3-7 years. From the ages 3-4 children are more independent and can follow a set of simple directions. Children are also becoming more interested in each other so will be more likely to share toys with others and interact and make up games to play with other children. By the ages of 4-5 children are more aware of who they are and are interested with friendships and will express awareness for others thoughts and feelings. At age 5 are achieving a level of balance, self-containment and independence. They are willing to talk to
