To the right audience, Chicago Fire can be said to be the “best show they have ever watched.” It is full of suspense, drama, and just enough romance to keep the women interested. The show is based on a firehouse in Chicago, Illinois. Each person that is part of the team is a main character. Each episode focuses on a few of the characters and lets you in on there life. Chicago Fire isn’t like any other show I have ever watched, they show the friendly yet stressful side of a fire department. Some of the characters include, Matthew Casey, Kelly Severide, Gabriela Dawson, Leslie Shay, Peter Mills, Chief Wallace Boden, Joe Cruz, and some other faces that don’t have to big of roles (Chicago). The suspense portions of the show include how they end each show, along with how they lead up to commercials. For example, there is a “gang” of men who had been stalking the firehouse because Cruz had a younger brother who was part of the gang, but through a long series of events Cruz was part of killing the lead gang member. He kept it a secret because the lead member was in a fire and Cruz just pretended he didn’t see him so he burned to death. The suspense that comes from this situation is down the road when Casey tries to approach the members and he could be killed and right as he came into contact with them they cut to commercial. Whether or not you watch the show every week or not, the moment specifically would keep you waiting until the commercials are over just to see what happens. Another instance is when Shay, who is an EMT with Dawson, is helping a homeless person who is sick and tries putting in an IV and the man freaks out and it pricks Shay in the arm. They then cut to her in the hospital possibly having to worry about contracting and STD or AIDS. When watching it you can tell the creator loves leaving the audience with that suspense because it happens nearly every episode. Although the suspense keeps me coming back for the next episode, it’s not the only thing. The romance is my favorite part. There are two romance situations that always keep you guessing. The first one is Shay and Severide, Shay is a claimed lesbian and Severide is a man who has been in two serious relationships throughout the show. Shay and Severide aren’t dating, but they are roommates and great friends. What makes me see a connection with the two is that Shay wants to have a baby and it
vulnerable. On Sunday evening, October 8, 1871, just after nine o'clock, a fire broke out in the barn behind the home of Patrick and Catherine O'Leary at 13 DeKoven Street. How the fire started is still unknown today, but an O'Leary cow often gets the credit. The firefighters, exhausted from fighting a large fire the day before, were first sent to the wrong neighborhood. When they finally arrived at the O'Leary's, they found the fire raging out of control. The blaze quickly spread east and north. Wooden…
Sobus POL 300 Rough Draft Essay 2 The Great Chicago Fire is considered to be the event that brought first political machines to the city. The ambiguous situation on the political front opened the door for the underworld to come to power. Michael McDonald was the first boss of the Chicago machine and he was a tie between criminals and politicians (Simpson, D et al. p. 65) Corruption played an important role at the beginnings of the old Chicago machine, when criminals and mafia were contributing…

Life Cycle Paper on Chicago Fire By: Jeremy Foster The show that I chose to analyze is Chicago Fire on CBS. The show follows the life of firefighters and paramedics in Chicago. It is about their daily lives on and off the job and how they balance their personal lives with their careers. The main characters include Lieutenant Matthew Casey, Lieutenant Kelly Severide, Firefighter Candidate/Paramedic Gabriella Dawson, Paramedic Leslie Shay, and Paramedic Sylvie Brett. Lieutenant Mathew…
specific place: the working-class neighborhoods of Chicago. But in both cases, referring to the geographical connection doesn't begin to get at the expansiveness of the work. I'd hardly read much Dybek before, and so my understanding of the kind of writing that interests him was limited. I imagined stories that were beautifully written, but beyond that, I didn't know about the strangeness, beauty and engagement with memory that are central to his work. Chicago often does figure in his stories, but here,…
how well do the programs you watch reflect the diversity of the population in the United States? The following television programs were discussed: Chicago Fire, Baseball, Law and Order, Chopped from the Food Network, and Dr. Phil. Chicago Fire is based on a crew of fire fighters situated in Chicago in which they are called upon to respond to fires and various hazardous situations. story based on the building of the most important fair in the United States of America, the 1893 Columbian Exposition World’s Fair in Chicago. Erik Larson also told the story of the psychopathic murderer; H.H. Holmes used his World’s Fair Hotel as an evil castle to lure in young women who came to see the fair. The story starts off with Larson describing that Chicago won the Congressional vote to host the World’s Fair and beat out its competition New York City. In only two short years, the White City…

African Americans in Chicago, Illinois; 1860-1950 I often wonder why. "Why" I see gang violence on the news so often and why I read about the academic achievement gap between the crowned "white" race and my own. "Why" is it that every time I see a man on the news, one who shares the same face as mine, the same blood, is staring in the eyes of an impending incarceration. "Why" the idea of a drug dealer or a, "gang banger," is tagged with the image of a man with Black skin. "Why" I look around…
